Fort Calhoun is now home to me and my family, and although I didn’t grow up here, I was raised on a farm about 35 miles north and west of town. Growing up in a big family with many responsibilities, I quickly learned the value of hard work and caring for others. I can remember the “fire phone” ringing at our home, signaling that my parents were needed to respond to a local rescue or fire emergency. Although they both worked full time, my parents also volunteered their time to help others in need.
As a young girl I spent many weeks each summer with my grandmother in Scribner, Nebraska, taking swimming lessons and learning pinochle and gin/rummy card games. Every day we spent time with my aunt who resided in the nursing home in town, where I later worked and found my passion was in caring for an aged population.
Following completion of my bachelor of science in nursing degree at Midland University, I had the opportunity to serve a diverse population of patients in both medical and surgical nursing. I’m just as proud of the mentoring and experiences I gained at Creighton University as I am of those received at Memorial Community Hospital. With a solid background in leadership and management, along with values that began as a young girl, I’m excited to join Autumn Pointe as Executive Director. I have every confidence in our amazing staff and Leadership Team, and I too am honored to serve our Autumn Pointe Assisted Living Community of residents.
Today, my husband and I also volunteer our time with Fort Calhoun’s Fire Department and with youth sports, and we are overjoyed with the small community of Fort Calhoun that we call home.
