“Feels Like Family”
Amanda Becker has been with Autumn Pointe for nearly six years as a Medication Aide. Amanda was raised locally, went to college locally, and found it important to get a job in the same community where she grew up.
Being raised in the area means Amanda frequently knows the residents before they came to live at Autumn Pointe. Amanda sees their decision to come to Autumn Pointe as exciting because that means she’ll get to know them better than she did previously and she will now have the opportunity to interact with them on a daily basis.
As a Medication Aide, Amanda makes the rounds to administer medications to the residents every two hours. In her downtime Amanda enjoys getting to hang out with the residents and being able to help them with any normal daily needs they may have.
One of Amanda’s favorite aspects of Autumn Pointe is the fact that it feels like a country setting where residents can get out and take in the beauty along the walking path or sit on the front porch and enjoy nature. They even are able to do activities outside when the weather allows.
Something Amanda was pleasantly surprised by when she came to work at Autumn Pointe is how open the residents are willing to be. They really enjoy getting to know each other, getting to know the staff, and they enjoy sharing things about themselves so that it’s easy to get to know them and to know their likes and dislikes. “It’s like I have a lot of grandparents.”
Amanda says another thing that she loves about working at Autumn Pointe is that it’s not a job where you come to work, you do your job, then you go home. There’s so much more to it because you really care about the residents and the people you work with. In fact, Amanda says that Autumn Pointe has such a family atmosphere that some residents think of the staff as their grandkids.
If Amanda had one thing to tell the community about Autumn Pointe it would be, “It’s a great place to live. The staff here is so great and we try to meet every need that the residents have.”
